I remember reading a WT where they quoted a source that said 300.000 Christians died in the first century as martyrs. The obvious conclusion was that the 144,000 number was filled back then. No doubt many witnesses thought this for a Question from readers was later published addressing it. It said among other things "that they could not have all been faithful." These ones were matyers. They just didn't simply claim to be Christians. They died for their faith, fed to lions, set alight as human torchers on the Appian Way. For fxxk's sake what more did they need to do in order to convince the Gibbering Body they were faithful. Now I find such claims highly offensive. Yet when I was a Witness , I hardly gave it a second thought. Go figure

by Luo bou to inno doe not that kind.. like many of you i have family and friends that are the living dead.
they can walk straight past me as if i don't exist.
i'd like to bury them, morn the loss and accept that i can no longer relate to them, but they are still walking around and as pope said " hope springs eternal in the human breast" i am a fighter, but this cult mindset is so elusive.

I hear you LouBelle and your right. While I accept that it is their choice.... it is not an informed choice but one based on mind controll.... they actually believe they are showing me love. If it was really their choice then I would accept and forget them. Can you hold someone accountable when they don't know what they are doing?

No Doe Not that kind.
Like many of you I have family and friends that are the living dead. I see them but they don't see me. They can walk straight past me as if I don't exist. I can't nail my opponent and its hard for me to change what I can and accept what I can't. It's frustrating.

What Keysore soze said
And be sure to talk incessantly about your previous love interest . How devoted you were to her and how she broke your heart. This will let her know that you are the kind of Guy who can make a deep commitment.
Oh and Good Luck. You'll need it if you follow our advice

jw's view of death, hereafter, etc. skewed
by carla inoompa said in another thread, "so non-dubs should grieve less over their dead,"- i have heard this before from jw's or ex jw's.
to me it seems that jw's and often some ex jw's have a skewed view of non jw's view of death, hereafter and the grieving process.
certainly we all have heard at one time or another when someone who was suffering terribly died that it was a 'blessing' when they finally passed on, the family still grieves nonetheless.

Why did Jesus cry at the death of Lazarus when he was about to bring him back to life? I lost my daughter when she was 18 and I cried a bucketful of tears... I loved her ...She was worth every single one of them. It was not because of a lack of faith ... I will see her again ... It's normal to grieve any loss even that of my JW family and friends ( the living dead) that were so much a part of my life for so many years.

I'm Right your Wrong
by Luo bou to inwhen i was a jw my sense of security depended on being right, having all the answers, and i would feel threatened when i was finding it difficult to defend them.
i would then comfort myself with the thought "that even if it is wrong it is still a good way to live".
so why this post?

Unfortunately Wobble everyone else realizes the bubble has been pricked except the Witness. I admire and share your passion, though I often feel like Don Quixote jousting with windmills. trying to right the unrightable wrong, dreaming the impossible dream.

..i think we have have some hangups about wanting to be right still............oompa
Could this be the reason why some posters get personal and attack the character of those that disagree with them?
PS oompa I admire you for having the courage to admit you had a problem re: the booze
